1. I started writing a novel. Terrifying. And writing has never been so fun.
2. I’m back at work on a prose poem project I started a year ago, “Root Wads and Landings: on the New American Landscape.” I’m about to head to the Red Rocks of Utah to do a little (ahem) “research.”
Here’s a little snippet of the introduction to the project:
Talk like a switchback. Look ahead. Don’t ask for favors. Rehearse the last line of Walden. Don’t say it. Just know it: The sun is but a morning star. Speak in colors gathering at the gaps. Ask yourself how to negotiate the incline of a millennium. This may not help.
